Teaching Practice (TP)

Your group of 5 or 6 teacher trainees teach a class of students learning English, most of whom are from Hungary. Your tutor and other trainees watch the lessons. Sometimes tutors teach the group, so you have an opportunity to watch an experienced teacher working with your students

You’ll notice a healthy number of breaks built into our schedule, all the more important when doing and training.

12:30-13:30

You have the chance to discuss your lesson with fellow trainees and the tutor and some good ideas for moving forward in your teaching.

13:30-14:30
Lunch
14:30-15:30
Assisted Lesson Preparation (ALP)

You discuss the lessons for the next day with your tutor and peers.

Break
16:00-17:30
Seminars and workshops

The trainers give practical input sessions to get you thinking and give you lots of practical teaching ideas in all the key areas. Interactive, challenging and really enjoyable.

On certain days, you’ll observe experienced teachers in action, including trainers delivering lessons to practice students. This gives you the opportunity to identify effective skills and techniques that you can adapt and apply to your own teaching.

In our online courses, we use the Zoom platform for all interactive elements, including teaching practice, feedback sessions, assisted lesson planning, input, and tutorials. Google Classroom supports course administration and communication, ensuring a seamless and efficient learning experience.

On our face-to-face courses, input sessions are typically held in the morning, while teaching practice usually takes place in the afternoon, allowing for a balanced and structured learning experience.

Part-time CELTA

What sets the part-time Celta apart?
The part-time Celta differs from the full-time format in its weekly schedule and duration. While the full-time course runs for four weeks with five full days of contact per week, the part-time option spans 12 weeks with three half-days per week. Typically, our part-time Celta takes place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9:00 to 14:00. Teaching practice happens on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, while ‘input’ sessions (seminars and workshops) are scheduled for Friday mornings. Week 1 and Week 7 are exceptions, with ‘input’ sessions running on all three days.
Why would someone do the part-time course instead of fulltime?

The part-time Celta is perfect for those balancing work or family commitments that make the full-time course impractical. This format is also a great choice for individuals who prefer more time to absorb the course material or who may find the full-time option too intensive and demanding.

Online CELTA

Why choose the online Celta format?

The online CELTA gives you the freedom to study from anywhere while earning the same globally respected qualification as the classroom based version. With live teaching practice and interactive input sessions, you will gain real classroom experience, just in a virtual setting.

Why would someone do the online course instead of face-to-face?

Choosing the online format means you avoid travel and accommodation costs, and you can join the course whenever, wherever, even from the comfort of your home. It also prepares you for teaching in both physical and digital classrooms, which is increasingly important in today’s language teaching field. You learn to use digital platforms confidently, while developing strong teaching skills through real-time practice with learners.
