About the role

As a Language Teacher / Foreign Language Instructor, you will plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons for adult and/or young adult learners. Your work will help students improve their speaking, grammar, vocabulary, confidence, exam performance and ability to use language in real-life situations.

You will be part of a close-knit, international teaching community, supported by experienced colleagues and academic coordination.

You will:

  • teach intensive language courses in a communicative and student-focused way;
  • prepare students for language exams, including speaking, grammar, writing, listening and exam strategy;
  • use real-life materials, multimedia, pair work, group tasks, role plays, discussions and practical classroom activities;
  • adapt lessons to students’ levels, goals, needs and learning styles;
  • help learners develop fluency, accuracy, confidence and independent learning habits;
  • give clear, constructive and encouraging feedback;
  • use course materials, school systems and digital tools professionally;
  • keep basic teaching-related administration up to date;
  • cooperate with academic managers, coordinators and fellow teachers;
  • take part in professional development opportunities where relevant;
  • represent IH Budapest’s teaching values and quality standards.
You should have:
  • at least C1-level proficiency in the language you teach;
  • a recognised teaching qualification, such as a teaching diploma and/or CELTA, DELTA, TEFL, TESOL or equivalent certification;
  • strong classroom management and communication skills;
  • confidence in teaching grammar, vocabulary, speaking skills and exam-preparation content;
  • the ability to deliver interactive, communicative and learner-centred lessons;
  • reliability, punctuality and a professional attitude;
  • the ability to work on-site in Budapest and/or in a hybrid teaching format;
  • basic digital confidence, including Microsoft tools and online teaching resources.

It would be an advantage if you also have:

  • experience teaching intensive language courses;
  • experience preparing students for language exams;
  • experience teaching adults, young adults, corporate learners or mixed-level groups;
  • familiarity with communicative language teaching;
  • experience with online or hybrid teaching;
  • experience using digital learning platforms or school administration systems;
  • additional language teaching qualifications or specialist training.

You may work with:

  • Microsoft 365 / Microsoft Office tools;
  • SchoolDrive;
  • online teaching and learning resources;
  • multimedia materials, audio, video, digital worksheets and interactive classroom tools.

Salary / hourly fee will be discussed individually, based on qualification, experience, course type and availability.
