Welcome back to our CELTA blog series!
Day 5 marks a major milestone on the course – we’ve officially wrapped up Week One, and it’s safe to say it’s been an intense, rewarding, and confidence-building start to the CELTA journey.
A Big Day to Close the Week
Day 5 was packed from start to finish and brought together everything trainees have been working towards so far.
Here’s what the day included:
-
An input session on lesson planning, packed with practical, time-saving tips
-
Assisted lesson planning for the week ahead, helping trainees prepare with more clarity and confidence
-
Teaching practice and feedback – and a big achievement: everyone passed 🙌
-
The start of tutorials, making it clear that things are now getting very real
It was a day of progress, reassurance, and well-earned momentum.
From Simple Plans to the Full Package
From this point on, lesson planning steps up a level. Trainees now work with full lesson plans, including:
-
clear aims
-
language analysis
-
materials and staging
-
and a strong focus on learner outcomes
It might sound daunting at first, but Day 5 introduced smart strategies to keep preparation manageable. We covered the MVP (Minimum Viable Product) approach and the 80/20 rule, helping trainees focus on what really matters — staying efficient, focused, and sane.
And yes – sleep is still possible, if you plan smart. 😴
Thinking About Becoming an English Teacher?
